Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed OSSD
Experience: Candidates should have 4 and 5 years of work experience in heavy equipment repair, specifically with mining equipment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be willing to work alternative shifts and supply their own mechanic tools
- The candidates should have the strength and stamina to work with heavy equipment, work in cramped or awkward positions, and lift objects up to 75 lbs
- The candidates should have mechanical ability and an interest in all types of machinery, engines, electronics, and precision equipment and the ability to think logically and keep up with changes in technology
- The candidates should be able to work independently or as part of a team and work well under pressure, maintaining effectiveness and self-control
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have GED, be a certified journeyperson and demonstrate prompt daily attendance at the assigned schedule
- The candidates should cooperate with others and work toward consensual solutions to achieve the group’s effectiveness
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks and service vehicles and check graders and other mining equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
- The candidates should be able to clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repairs
- The candidates should be able to adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools
- The candidates should be able to replace vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions, and braking systems, and perform repair work on all mobile equipment
- The candidates should be able to check vehicle lighting systems and test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work meets manufacturers’ specifications
- The candidates should be able to read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings and adhere to an inspection procedure checklist, including audits, PMs, pre-ops, and post-ops
- The candidates should be able to create work orders, find parts, and complete parts lists in work orders using all available resources (without supervision), ensure the cleanliness of the shop and perform all other duties
