Alberta Council of Turnaround Industry Maintenance Stakeholders is a collaborative organization dedicated to advancing turnaround and maintenance practices in the industrial sector. Comprising stakeholders from various industries including oil and gas, petrochemicals, and mining, ACTIMS facilitates knowledge exchange, best practices sharing, and industry advocacy. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible. The position of Welder is approved by LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment)

Salary: $56.99 hourly for 40 to 60 hours per week
Employment Type: Term or contract (ending: 2024-08-30) Full time
Location: Fort McMurray, AB
Shifts: Day, Overtime, 08:00 to 18:00
Work setting: Repair, Oil refinery and petrochemical plant, and Maintenance

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Other trades certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 3 to less than 5 years
Area of specialization: Pressure vessels, Tanks, Stacks, towers and furnaces, Boiler installation, and Boiler tube installation
Welding techniques: Gas Tungsten ARC (GMAW) (TIG)
Types of systems: Precipitators
Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
Credentials: First Aid Certificate, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certificate, Boilermaker Red Seal Certificate, and Boilermaker Trade Certification

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be physically fit for demanding tasks, capable of handling heavy loads, and able to bend, crouch, and kneel as necessary
  • The candidates should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate attention to detail, and stand for extended periods
  • The candidates should be prepared for overtime as required and able to meet tight deadlines

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to repair and maintain boilers and heavy-metal products, as well as erect and install them according to specifications
  • The candidates should be able to read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications, and plan the sequence of operation
  • The candidates should be able to perform informal inspections of completed welds, fit and weld parts together
