Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a degree in a forestry or resource management
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years 24 months of supervisory experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be flexible regarding ongoing changes in responsibilities, assignments, and corporate structures and keep current on emerging issues
  • The candidates should take in-house training and certification and be willing to fly in aircraft (fixed-wing and rotary)
  • The candidates should be able to work extended hours, including weekends, and be on standby with limited notice in accordance with the preparedness plan
  • The candidates should be prepared to travel and overnight in remote locations where accommodations
  • The candidates should be capable of working under adverse or stressful conditions, including smoke, extreme heat, and mountainous terrain in remote and isolated conditions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have plus one (1) year of related experience, a technical diploma in a field related to forestry or resource management, plus three (3) years of related experience
  • The candidates should have Grade 12 education, plus five (5) years of related experience, an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • The candidates should have related experience defined as emergency response experience in natural resources management or a similar field and possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • The candidates should obtain and maintain certification and training for the position to meet operational requirements and participate in Incident Command System positions

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to supervise wildfire crews and manage assigned portfolios, such as training programs or prescribed fire activities
  • The candidates should be able to ensure year-round preparedness and effective response strategies for wildfire emergencies
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to natural disaster mitigation efforts, focusing on fire suppression to safeguard community safety
  • The candidates should be able to lead in emergency situations, coordinating with teams to execute fire suppression operations
  • The candidates should be able to make a positive impact by enhancing emergency response measures and supporting wildfire management initiatives
