Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of college diploma or university degree in Recreation, Child Care/Youth Worker, Kinesiology or Physical Education
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 2 years of experience working with multi-cultural youth aged 12 and up
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates.
- The candidates should hold a Crisis Prevention/Intervention training certificate
- The candidates should have AODA Customer Service/IASR Training
- The candidates should demonstrate knowledge of legislation protecting the rights of special needs client populations
- The candidates should have experience in client care
- The candidates should be familiar with health and safety legislation, policies, and procedures
- The candidates should understand City of Ottawa and Parks & Recreation Branch Policies and Procedures
- The candidates should adhere to relevant standards of practice
- The candidates should possess knowledge of learning disabilities and appropriate intervention strategies, social skill developments, and task analysis processes
- The candidates should be knowledgeable about treatment programs
- The candidates should have well-developed communication skills with children and youth
- The candidates should possess conflict resolution skills, problem-solving skills, and be a team player
- The candidates should enjoy working with children and youth, be energetic, creative, and fun
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to work with children with attention deficit, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, conduct disorder, and other learning disabilities in a positive reinforcement and social skills training program
- The candidates should be able to ensure that the operations, processes, and services provided are customer-centric and efficient within the Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services department
- The candidates should be able to deliver community recreation programs through geographically aligned areas across the City, including aquatic, sport, and physical activity programming for all ages
- The candidates should be able to develop programming to address the needs of individuals with disabilities and population segments who may experience barriers to access recreation services
