Salary: $18.00 to $19.50 hourly (to be negotiated) for 24 to 88 hours bi-weekly
Employment Type: Permanent employment Part time leading to full time
Location: Garson, ON & Coniston, ON
Shifts: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Shift, Overtime, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Willing to travel, Valid driver’s license, Travel expenses paid by the employer, Own vehicle
Work setting: Group home, Rural area
Target audience: Adolescents, Children, Culturally diverse groups, Females, Males, Persons with an intellectual disability, Persons with learning disabilities, Persons with mental health disabilities, Young offenders
Supervision: 5-10 people

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as College/CEGEP or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Emergency child care first aid and CPR, Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Medical exam

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, be physically demanding
  • The candidates should be able to work in child welfare, and should also be able to do programs dealing with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be client focus, initiative, flexible, and judgmental
  • The candidates should have excellent oral communication, excellent written communication, efficient interpersonal skills, and be able to work as a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to obtain information and prepare reports or case histories, appraise clients’ needs or eligibility for specific services, implement life skills workshops
  • The candidates should be able to assess client’s relevant skill strengths and development needs, housekeeping activities, food preparation
  • The candidates should be able to provide suicide and crisis intervention, resolve conflict situations, supervise activities of clients living in group homes and half-way houses
  • The candidates should be able to supervise children’s visits with parents to ensure their safety, implement behaviour management programs, conduct individual and group counselling sessions
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients, assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs
  • The candidates should be able to assist clients/guests with special needs, accompany clients to appointments and social outings
