Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have College/CEGEP or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work in noisy environments and in air-conditioned settings
  • The candidates should be physically fit for demanding tasks and have a strong attention to detail
  • The candidates should be able to manage a combination of sitting, standing, and walking tasks, and be capable of bending, crouching, and kneeling as necessary

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers, develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children, and engage in storytelling activities
  • The candidates should be able to assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records, engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs, and preparing crafts, and guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
  • The candidates should be able to prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods, submit written observations on children to early childhood educators or supervisors, and demonstrate knowledge of licensing regulations
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children, discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members, and attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children, plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children, and plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
