Position: Truck driver
No of Vacancies: 15
Salary: $28.50 to $29.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 40 to 60 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Mississauga, ON
Shifts: Evening, Night, Overtime, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Drive manual transmission vehicle, willing to travel cross-border, willing to travel for extended periods, and willing to travel overnight
Work setting: Various locations and willing to relocate
Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbook, inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), trans-border documentation, trip reports
Requirements:
Languages:Â Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, trip recorder (on-board computer)
Equipment and machinery experience: Dry bulk, flatbed, tractor-trailer
Transportation/travel experience: International, national, provincial/territorial, regional
Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots
Security and safety: Valid passport, bondable, criminal record check, driver’s validity licence check, driving record check (abstract), drug test, and medical exam
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail in their work and be capable of handling heavy loads
- The candidates should be able to perform physically demanding tasks and handle weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
- The candidates should be comfortable with sitting for extended periods
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should exhibit flexibility in their approach to tasks and demonstrate good judgment in decision-making
- The candidates should be reliable in meeting deadlines and commitments and be effective team players
Candidate Status:
- Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position
- International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate professionalism in customer service and drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
- The candidates should be able to load and unload goods, operate and drive trucks to transport goods and materials, and oversee the condition of the vehicle
- The candidates should be able to pay and receive payments for goods, perform brake adjustments, and perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections
- The candidates should be able to perform preventive maintenance, receive and relay information to central dispatch, and record cargo information
- The candidates should be able to tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo
