Requirements:

Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be dependable and demonstrate initiative, polite and punctual
- The candidates should have the ability to work in extreme industrial conditions, exposed to hot and cold workplace temperatures, noise, odours, potentially toxic and explosive atmospheres
- The candidates should be able to work at heights and conduct repairs from elevated platforms and confined spaces

Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a Journeyman’s Refrigeration and Air Conditioning License and Certification achieved through 9000 apprenticeship hours and hold a Journeyman’s License in Gas #1 achieved through 6000 apprenticeship hours and hold a valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification as Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic 313A
- The candidates should complete all required on-the-job training or certifications WHMIS, fall arrest, confined space entry within the timeframe determined by the employer and valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated and experience within the outlined trade following the attainment of the Journeyman’s Certificates and experience in the service, maintenance, and operations of gas combustion systems and familiar with relevant guidelines, policies, regulations, and legislation, proficient in preventative maintenance procedures
- The candidates should possess a TSSA Regulated Fuels Safety certificate (natural gas, propane and alternate fuel), hold a TSSA Gas Fitter (G1) certificate, hold a current Ontario Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certificate card, a valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification in other related Trade(s), hold a TSSA Welder or Brazer certificate to City Procedures within the timeframe determined by the employer and current Arc Flash Hazard training (CSA Z462 Workplace Electrical Safety Standard)
- The candidates should be experienced in the service, maintenance, and operation of plumbing, electronic, and pneumatic controls, BAS training including BACNet and proficient in using personal computer business application systems, and interpret blueprints, plans, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical specifications and knowledgeable in Direct Digital Control systems
- The candidates should understand Purchasing Bylaws and tendering and contract processes and demonstrate safe handling of chemicals, lubricants, and other service-related material and working knowledge of all applicable trade tools, manometers and vacuum pumps and understand indoor air quality requirements as per ASHRAE, knowledgeable about the B-51 Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, familiar with Arc-Flash Calorie Rated PPE, understand CSA Z-462 Workplace Electrical Safety and knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code
- The candidates should understand the B-149 Natural Gas and Propane Code and experience with Natural Gas Fired Generators and familiarity with the B-52 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Code and knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers and demonstrated ability in service, maintenance, and operations of fuel-fired systems
- The candidates should be safety-conscious when working on fuel-fired equipment and assist in the review of contracts for compliance with legislative and corporate requirements and mechanical and electrical troubleshooting expertise and assist in the review of drawings and specifications for new construction projects and effectively communicate with clients, contractors, other employees, and the public
- The candidates should be capable of preparing work orders and parts orders, work independently with minimal supervision and interpret job and manufacturer specifications and proficient in reading building drawings mechanical, electrical, and architectural) and proficient in using personal computer business application systems and troubleshoot, service, and maintain 600V equipment Work on voltages from 24VAC-750VAC
- The candidates should be able to reclaim and record refrigerants as per MOE regulations and ODP requirements and skilled in brazing, welding, cutting, and soldering using torches and basic arc welding procedures within TSSA guidelines and ability to program, troubleshoot, and maintain various BASs, capable of setting up emissions on all fuel-fired equipment (MOE) and experience with silos welding or brazing
- The candidates should have experience supervising contractors and participants in projects and demonstrate initiative and innovation in problem-solving and willing to work with MMS to create and update PM routines and possess effective interpersonal and communication skills and work well with minimal supervision, work in areas with corrosive chemicals
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, monitor, control, design, and inspect all mechanical and ancillary systems associated with City facilities
- The candidates should be able to design, construct, and install new and updated HVAC and Building Automation systems in facilities, including installation and maintenance of Refrigeration, Natural Gas, and Propane fired equipment
- The candidates should be able to deliver facility management and maintenance services within assigned geographic and specialty areas, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and operational efficiency
