Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a PhD in Biology, Microbiology, Genetics and Genomics
Experience: Candidates should have 2+ years of experience in the field of computational virology

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a similar field, or an equivalent record of research and education experience in a related field
  • The candidates should have a demonstrated capacity to write scientific papers, generate figures, and strategically plan and execute research experiments
  • The candidates should have strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and a proven ability to work in a collaborative laboratory environment
  • The candidates should have experience in preparing grant applications and the communication of scientific results at international conferences
  • The candidates should have publications in the topic of research interest relevant to these qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to strategically design, plan, and execute a research program focused on novel virus discovery
  • The candidates should be able to establish reproducible bioinformatic screening protocols to identify novel viruses from public sequencing datasets and analyze their phylogenetic and ecological relationships
  • The candidates should be able to systematically review published literature associated with sequencing datasets for the clinical and molecular interpretation of virus-host and plant-animal interactions
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with collaborators and aggregate disparate data sources for systematic reporting and analysis of plant viruses and other viruses
  • The candidates should be able to prepare materials for manuscripts, grants, and scientific presentations and write scientific papers for publication and peer-review
