Requirements:
Languages:Â Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Area of specialization:Â Green economy sector
Communication systems experience:Â Citizens Band (CB) Radio, Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and Other Navigation Equipment, Trip Recorder (On-Board Computer)
Documentation knowledge:Â Driver Logbook, Inspection Report (Pre-Trip, En-Route, Post-Trip), and Trip Reports
Type of trucking and equipment:Â Roll-Off Truck, Dump Truck, Flatbed, Straight Truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ With 3+ Axles), and Tractor-Trailer
Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone, Steel-toed safety boots
Credentials:Â Air Brakes Endorsement, Driver’s License (Class 1 or A), and First Aid Certificate
Security and safety:Â Drive Manual Transmission Vehicle, Travel Expenses Paid By Employer, and Valid Driver’s Licence
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to pay attention to detail, handle heavy loads, and manage a large workload
- The candidates should be able to work overtime, perform physically demanding tasks, and complete repetitive tasks
- The candidates should be able to work while sitting and handle more than 45 kg (100 lbs)
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills, have excellent oral and written communication, and be flexible
- The candidates should exercise good judgment, be organized, reliable, and a team player
- The candidates should be hardworking and demonstrate patience
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions using computer equipment, GPS, or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions and demonstrate professionalism in customer service
- The candidates should be able to load and unload goods, operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, and perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections while overseeing all aspects of the vehicle
- The candidates should be able to perform preventive maintenance, record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption, and ensure the tarping, safety, and security of cargo
