Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of previous supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations
- The candidates should be available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in all weather conditions
- The candidates should have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to drill down to understand root causes and resolve complex issues
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have previous railway experience as a conductor, and a Locomotive Engineer qualification
- The candidates should demonstrate leadership presence with the drive and commitment to career advancement
- The candidates should possess excellent communication skills and be able to provide clear and concise instructions or directions, including over radio communication
- The candidates should be able to read and understand safety instructions, operating rules, regulations, and other written or printed material in English
- The candidates should possess general equivalency diploma, hold a valid driver’s license, be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to coordinate all train movements within the yard and mainline through active supervision of personnel and communication across departments, ensuring compliance with the Local Service Operating Plan and Operating Plan
- The candidates should be able to coordinate and standardize processes related to the operating plan, including arrival, classification, building, inspecting, and dispatching of trains
- The candidates should be able to provide leadership accountability for inputs and outputs related to safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics
- The candidates should be able to effectively lead Trains and Engines operating employees by acting as a safety leader through active observations, discussions about rule compliance, and implementing preventative measures through staff engagement
- The candidates should be able to occasionally operate trains and maintain necessary certifications and licenses Canadian Rail Operating Rules, Engineer) in accordance with industry regulations, assist in crew transportation to and from trains
