Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed an Ontario Secondary School Diploma
Experience: Candidates should have 4 to 5 years of work experience in heavy equipment repair, specifically with mining equipment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have mechanical ability and an interest in machinery, engines, electronics, and precision equipment, the ability to think logically and adapt to changes in technology
- The candidates should be able to work independently or as part of a team, work well under pressure while maintaining effectiveness and self-control
- The candidates should demonstrate a willingness to cooperate with others and work toward consensual solutions to enhance group effectiveness
- The candidates should demonstrate prompt daily attendance at their assigned schedule, be willing to work alternative shifts
- The candidates should supply their own mechanic tools, possess the strength and stamina to work with heavy equipment, work in cramped or awkward positions, and lift objects of various shapes up to 75 lbs
Other Requirements:
The candidates should have GED, be certified journeypersons
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy trucks, service vehicles, graders, and other mining equipment
- The candidate should be able to inspect and diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and manual testing equipment to determine the extent of required repairs
- The candidate should be able to clean, lubricate, and conduct routine maintenance, as well as adjust, repair, or replace defective parts, components, and systems using hand and power tools
- The candidate should be able to replace engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms, braking systems, and other components of mobile equipment
- The candidate should be able to check and maintain lighting systems, conduct equipment testing post-repair, and ensure work meets manufacturers’ specifications, read and interpret operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings
- The candidate should be able to follow inspection checklists (PMs, audits, pre-ops, post-ops) and complete work orders independently, including parts sourcing and documentation, maintain shop cleanliness and perform other duties
