Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French Language
Education: Candidates should be graduates of a technical/apprenticeship program for either Automotive Service Technician (light vehicles under 4,500kg) or Truck and Coach Technician (heavy equipment/vehicles over 4,500kg), accrediting qualification in one of these classes of vehicles
Experience: Candidates experience in customer service and experience in a delivery and/or driving role
Physical Requirements:
- The Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work in a physically demanding environment
Other Requirements:
- The Candidates should must hold the appropriate valid certification for the maintenance and repair of either light or heavy vehicles recognized in the province of employment
- They should be currently in the trade
- They must possess a valid provincial driver’s license, with a driver abstract that meets current corporate requirements
- The Candidates should should also have the appropriate license to operate heavy vehicles
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform maintenance and repairs on light or heavy vehicles (as per certification)
- The candidates should be able to conduct other maintenance facility activities such as parts ordering, receiving, stocking, and shipping, as well as taking calls and noting actions required
- The candidates should be able to inspect light or heavy vehicles within the Canada Post fleet and complete the necessary documentation accordingly within Canada Post and Government frequency of inspections (Municipal, Provincial, and Federal)
- The candidates should be able to complete quality control inspections by examining and testing repaired vehicles (light or heavy) to ensure repairs have been satisfactorily completed, according to Provincial and Canada Post specifications, and certifying roadworthiness before releasing back to Operations
- The candidates should be able to perform in-shop or on-road repairs on light or heavy vehicles as directed by the maintenance Supervisor/Mechanic Lead Hand within original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and/or Canada Post specifications
- The candidates should be able to maintain hand tools and shop equipment to a safe and reliable standard
- The candidates should be able to escalate any problems by completing the appropriate reports
- The candidates should be able to provide input and support as required to front-line operations on operating requirements, vehicles, and driver habits
- The candidates should be able to adhere to all Health and Safety and Environment policies and procedures by keeping the work area clean and free of hazards in support of a safe and healthy workplace
- The candidates should be able to replace or overhaul defective parts with new components using mechanic hand tools, power tools, and related automotive shop equipment
- The candidates should be able to move light or heavy vehicles and perform other related duties as required
