Salary: $17.00 to $22.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 40 to 50 hours per week

Transportation information: Valid driver’s licence, and Driver’s abstract
Work setting: Staff accommodation available, Rural area, Remote location, and Various locations

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Automated systems experience:
Bulk grain or feed handling – automated, Storage and silage system
Equipment and machinery experience: Farm truck, Forklift, Loader, Tractor, Combine harvester, Fertilizer applicator, Haying equipment, Manure spreader, Planting equipment, Seed drill, Swather, Hand tools

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in beef cattle ranching and farming, including feedlots, livestock combination farming, oilseed (except soybean) farming, and wheat farming
  • The candidates should have experience in dry pea and bean farming and farm operations, and be able to work in all weather condition
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment, capable of performing repetitive tasks and working under pressure
  • The candidates should be able to handle heavy loads, meet tight deadlines, and be physically capable of handling demanding tasks
  • The candidates should possess hand-eye coordination, demonstrate attention to detail, and be able to stand for extended periods, as well as bend, crouch, and kneel as needed
  • The candidates should be willing to work overtime when required and be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as be able to handle weights up to 9 kg (20 lbs), 13.5 kg (30 lbs), and 23 kg (50 lbs)

  • The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills and demonstrate flexibility, exercising good judgment
  • The candidates should be organized, exhibit reliability, and be team players
  • The candidates should uphold strong values and ethics and be quick learners

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to apply fertilizers to promote plant growth and health, mix fertilizers according to specified guidelines for application, and fertilize and spray crops to protect against pests and diseases and enhance growth
  • The candidates should be able to write daily basic progress reports to document tasks completed and observations made, clean the work area to ensure a safe and organized environment, and perform general farm duties such as cleaning, maintenance, and repairs
  • The candidates should be able to harvest crops when they reach maturity for market or storage, operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment to ensure proper functioning and efficiency, and maintain equipment to prolong its lifespan and ensure safety
  • The candidates should be able to organize planting, cultivating, and crop harvesting activities to maximize efficiency and productivity
