Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of post-secondary work experience degree program
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidate should demonstrate critical thinking competency and a continuous learning mindset
  • The candidate should be capable of working independently, integrating newly acquired knowledge, and making decisions in the absence of a supervisor
  • The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be currently enrolled in an accounting co-op or equivalent post-secondary work experience degree program
  • The candidate should possess basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices
  • The candidate should have a proven ability to check and record financial transactions and prepare detailed financial reports
  • The candidate should be proficient in using Google Workspace and Microsoft Office applications
  • The candidate should have experience in preparing complex financial statements, reports, and analyzing accounting data
  • The candidate should possess knowledge of corporate financial systems and their connection to departmental accounting operations
  • The candidate should exhibit a passion to learn, be a self-starter, and take initiative and understanding of Canadian public sector accounting
  • The candidate should have excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • The candidate should possess clear and efficient oral and written communication skills, fostering strong relationships
  • The candidate should demonstrate service excellence, embrace diversity, and promote inclusiveness

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist with preparing monthly reports and accounting for operations, capital or debt, payroll and benefits, commodity tax, investments, and performance
  • The candidates should be able to help review and analyze financial systems and prepare basic accounting entries
  • The candidates should be able to support Senior Accountants with data and financial information
  • The candidates should be able to perform additional tasks and assist with year-end financial statement preparation
