Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of one full academic year of teaching experience as an adult educator in a post-secondary setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a certificate in adult education, be aware that the official languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English, and French, and may submit their resume in any of these languages
  • The candidates should consider fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages , knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, and land
  • The candidates should be familiar with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to engage with adults in the community, collaborating with individuals, organizations, businesses, and government departments to identify education and training
  • The candidates should be able to provide adult education and training programs tailored to the needs of the community, supervise the janitor and provide support to casual staff involved in program delivery
  • The candidates should be able to manage and coordinate the effective delivery of adult education programs, including scheduling and curriculum implementation
  • The candidates should be able to provide educational and career counselling services to assist individuals in identifying and achieving their learning goals
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the maintenance and safe operation of the community education facility
  • The candidates should be able to recommend budget expenditures related to program delivery, facility maintenance, and staff support
  • The candidates should be able to conduct an annual training needs assessment to guide planning and program development
  • The candidates should be able to deliver adult basic education programming, including literacy, essential skills, foundational learning, and academic readiness
  • The candidates should be able to support community members in identifying their education and training needs and assist them in applying for appropriate opportunities
  • The candidates should be able to enhance educational and training services in the community by responding to changing needs and priorities
