Experience: Candidates should have two years of experience in managing a preventative maintenance program for airport
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to read, interpret, and understand electrical drawings and schematics, and modify electrical drawings
- The candidates should be aware that the position involves a risk of electrical burns and potential for serious injury during inspection, testing, and repair of installations for 1 to 4 hours daily
- The candidates should be prepared to work outdoors in extreme low temperature, sustain a high exertion of sensory attention for up to 8 hours daily
- The candidates should be able to manage exposure to a large workload and competing priorities
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and electrical installation and maintenance practices and principles
- The candidates should have knowledge of electrical systems and regulations specific to airports, including Airfield Lighting regulations, Industrial Electronics, Fire Alarm Systems, Fire Protection Systems, Programmable Logic Controller Systems, Electrical Power Generators, Logic Controls, High Voltage testing and fault locating, and electrical safety, knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems
- The candidates should possess a First Class Journeyman Electrical Certificate, a First Class Inter-provincial Red Seal Certificate, and at least two years of experience as a maintenance electrician, preferably with a background in airfield lighting and airport electrical systems
- The candidates should have two years of experience managing a preventative maintenance program for airport electrical equipment and systems
- The candidates should have experience supervising and providing direction and advice to electrical contractors
- The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license and be able to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to formulate and implement work programs and develop work methods, procedures, and acceptance criteria
- The candidates should be able to establish operation and maintenance costs of new systems, equipment, and installations
- The candidates should be able to carry out emergency repairs and make alternative arrangements in response to electrical and power failures to minimize the impact on airport operations, ensure proper completion of Work Orders and Work Requests following the Airport Maintenance Management System (MMS)
- The candidates should be able to prepare requisitions for materials and supplies, prepare and administer maintenance contracts, inspect completed work, and recommend payment of invoices
- The candidates should be able to conduct regular inspections, tests, checks, and verifications on equipment condition and performance
- The candidates should be able to provide emergency repairs and alternatives in response to electrical equipment and power failures to minimize service interruptions
- The candidates should be able to adjust, calibrate, re-align, and repair equipment and installations to required performance standards
- The candidates should be able to report equipment failures and abnormalities in equipment performance and recommend corrective action
- The candidates should be able to maintain electrical drawings, data, and inventory to “as built” status
- The candidates should be able to maintain an adequate supply of materials, spare parts, tools, and test instruments to perform emergency repairs and deliver the preventative maintenance program, maintain records of materials used in preventative maintenance
