Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language

Experience: Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of experience in safety compliance
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate agility and drive change, general Microsoft computer skills, conduct investigations after an accident and be prepared to work in an office environment and outdoors in various weather conditions
- The candidates should be available to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays and regularly travel (up to 50%) across their assigned territory, sometimes without advance notice
- The candidates should be able to meet tight deadlines and handle pressure and stress and lift up to 70 lbs and respond to unexpected and emergency situations
- The candidates should lead by example for the safety and security of all team members and consider ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles in all operations
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving and possess relevant work experience in similar working conditions or in a regulatory or safety environment
- The candidates should have budget management experience and experience in labour relations, including interpreting collective agreements, responding to grievances, and negotiations with union representatives
- The candidates should have experience supervising a unionized workforce, or General Education Development (GED), a Bachelor’s Degree, hold a valid Driver’s Licence, certified in Railroad Operating Signals
- The candidates should be able to identify potential safety and security risks, demonstrate active listening and strong communication skills, solve problems to create value and develop self and others, delegate and empower others to create accountability
- The candidates should collaborate with others and share information effectively and set direction and inspire others
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to lead engineering operations as outlined in CN’s operating plan and lead activities of track gangs, track employees, and hi-rail operations
- The candidates should be able to handle engineering operations, ensuring compliance with safe work procedures, Transport Canada guidelines, and CN standards, policies, and regulations and lead people with clear direction and goals, while providing coaching and guidance through regular performance monitoring
- The candidates should be able to apply collective agreements and company policies by conducting investigations, recommending corrective actions, and responding to grievances
- The candidates should be able to oversee budgets and workforce productivity within CN policies and the Five Guiding Principles
- The candidates should be able to ensure clear communication of track condition and daily production information to senior management for necessary adjustments
- The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of the track through regulatory inspections and input findings into the Track Inspection System (TIS) to monitor track condition and follow up on reported track issues to ensure compliance with standards is maintained
- The candidates should be able to participate in activities related to derailments and disruptions in service, working with Transportation and Mechanical teams to establish cause and prevent future incidents and perform safety audits for the unionized workforce and conduct safety engagements
- The candidates should be able to plan, schedule, and perform track repairs and maintenance and respond to emergencies
