Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of S-100 Fire Suppression Course
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the physical capability and reliability to work 10-hour days in all weather conditions
  • The candidates should ideally have experience in small to medium machine operation, although training will be provided
  • The candidates should have experience operating hand tool equipment such as Pulaski, shovel and weed whacker

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a strong commitment to safety
  • The candidates should have intermediate or higher mountain biking skills
  • The candidates should ideally have previous chainsaw experience, although training will be provided
  • The candidates should ideally possess First Aid Certification
  • The candidates should ideally possess a Work Safe Chainsaw Operators Certification

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be able to ensure a safe, comfortable, and friendly atmosphere for both guests and staff
  • The candidate should be able to perform detailed trail inspections, observe and note deficiencies, areas of potential hazard or improvement and assist with equipment and tool inventory, maintenance, and storage and maintain records, logs, and assist with accident investigations
  • The candidate should be able to complete required trail maintenance in an efficient and effective manner using a variety of tools and equipment and to assist with trail design and construction following industry and resort standards
  • The candidate should be able to ride mountain bikes within resort policy perimeters, including managing speed, choosing appropriate terrain for ability level, maintaining personal equipment, and wearing safety gear full-face helmet, body armor, appropriate footwear and gloves
  • The candidate should be able to assess risks and hazards on the mountain and to adhere to company policy as it relates to their job and conduct while at work and to safely operate company vehicles and equipment within company policies
  • The candidate should be able to have a high level of willingness to participate in department training and required tasks, proving ongoing commitment and an increase in skill level and ability and to take initiative in developing work projects and perform duties independent of direct supervision
  • The candidate should be able to know and follow all safe work procedures included in the Safety Management Program and to know and comply with all expectations of the Injury Management or Return-to-Work Programs, rules and protocols outlined in the Resorts of the Canadian Rockies Employee Handbook
