Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as Grade 12 education
Experience: Candidates should have one year’s related general maintenance experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to work with hazardous chemicals such as ammonium hydroxide, lime, and chlorine
  • The candidates should have the ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should have the ability to operate motorized equipment
  • The candidates should have the ability to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean work site
  • The candidates should have the physical ability to perform the assigned duties

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid, recognized first aid certificate and should possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence
  • The candidates should provide a current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record
  • The candidates should have Possession of a Certificate of Completion for the California State University courses for Operation of Water or Wastewater Treatment Plants (Volume I and II)
  • The candidates should have knowledge of practices related to the care and operation of equipment and materials used in building and grounds maintenance
  • The candidates should have knowledge of safety procedures associated with working with hazardous products, including knowledge of confined space procedures and WHMIS
  • The candidates should have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders
  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform duties associated with the buildings and grounds maintenance programs
  • The candidates should be able to maintain plant grounds and reservoirs in a park-like condition, including general equipment maintenance
  • The candidates should be able to perform building maintenance and general maintenance involved with the operation of a water or wastewater treatment plant, including filter maintenance and cleaning of equipment
  • The candidates should be able to perform plant and site snow clearing and removal and able to operate motorized equipment
  • The candidates should be able to perform scheduled cleaning duties such as offices and washrooms
  • The candidates should be able to perform other related duties as assigned
