Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should hold a Registered Practical Nurse RN Diploma or BScN
Experience: Candidates should have three years of experience in a Long Term Care or Community Healthcare setting
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have current registration as an RN with the College of Nurses of Ontario with no restrictions to practice
- The candidates should have practical experience working with PSWs in community or long-term care settings
- The candidates should be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat a minimum of five years of related professional experience
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to deliver instruction that meets program outcomes as set out in the course outline
- The candidates should be able to monitor, review, and evaluate students during clinical placements as required by the program
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate facility-specific equipment and relate it to learning outcomes
- The candidates should be able to follow up with students who are not meeting learning outcomes and provide extra support and resources to them
- The candidates should be able to model professional behaviors and adhere to the CNO standards of practice
- The candidates should be able to act in a manner that follows the Sheridan College code of conduct
- The candidates should be able to provide a safe environment that is conducive to learning, evaluate and validate learning outcomes, and design appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning
- The candidates should be able to coordinate resident assignments and distribute them to respective students
- The candidates should be able to maintain ongoing communication with the coordinating nurse or PSW leader on the unit to ensure appropriateness of resident selections
