Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a Bachelor of Nursing
Experience: Candidates should have one year of experience in an acute care clinical setting and/or other equivalencies

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have related experiences in increasingly diverse settings, such as community health centres, schools, street clinics, youth centres, and nursing outposts, and with diverse partners, to meet the health needs of specific populations
  • The candidates should hold basic CPR with annual re-certification
  • The candidates should be eligible to register prior to the start date with the Registered Nurses Association of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANT/NU) with annual re-certification
  • The candidates should possess one or more of the following at the time of hire, and completion of the remainder (as directed) is required within the first 12 months in the role and then as necessary to maintain certification: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Trauma Nursing Care Course (TNCC), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), fetal monitoring, Emergency Nursing Pediatric Care (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), ALARM/ESW/FHS, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, ASIST, or Mental Health First Aid
  • The candidates should possess EKG interpretation, Critical Incident Stress Management, Pelvic Examination Training, Cross-Cultural Training, and Specialized Nursing Certificates

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist clients in the promotion, protection, and restoration of health
  • The candidates should be able to educate about, prevent, and reduce the incidence of disease, disability, and death
  • The candidates should be able to provide a comprehensive community health service in conjunction with the health care team
  • The candidates should be able to work within the context of Primary Health care to improve the capacity of clients to adapt to, respond to, or control life’s challenges and changes

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get Northern Allowance of $24,192 -$43,588 per year
