Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a two (2) year community college program in Environmental Technician
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of standard laboratory techniques to complete laboratory analysis accurately and in a timely manner with minimal supervision
- The candidates should be able to follow technical procedures, traffic regulations, and other safety protocols while maintaining acceptable housekeeping practices at all times
- The candidates should be able to meet the physical requirements of working in a laboratory setting, including moving lab equipment, sampling equipment, sample bottles, and boxes
- The candidates should possess strong math skills and demonstrate proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- The candidates should possess a valid Class ‘G’ driver’s license and maintain it in good standing throughout the course of employment
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to conduct sampling and monitoring of various discharges to the municipal storm and sanitary sewer systems
- The candidates should be able to clean and maintain sampling and flow monitoring equipment on a regular basis and maintain parts inventory, perform various lab analyses on sanitary and stormwater samples and submit samples to commercial laboratories
- The candidates should be able to prepare standards and reagents for use in the laboratory and maintain all chemical and laboratory equipment inventories
- The candidates should be able to maintain accurate records and ensure all laboratory QA/QC protocols are followed daily, update Standard Operating Procedures applicable to the Wastewater Compliance laboratory and maintain a current inventory of SDS reports
- The candidates should be able to provide technical assistance regarding laboratory processes, procedures, or certification activities, ensure all safety equipment is inspected and maintained on a regular basis
- The candidates should be able to assist Compliance Inspectors in addressing sewer use issues, perform any other duties related to Wastewater Compliance
