Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a valid Continuing Care Certification or Provincial Personal Care Worker course
Experience: Candidates should have previous experience supporting the care of vulnerable populations, with complex social situations, who are transitioning across health care settings, with a goal of home first

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work a schedule of flexible hours and shifts inclusive of days, nights, weekends and holidays

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be registered in Nova Scotia’s CCA registry as per the Continuing Care Assistants Registry Act
  • The candidates should be able to provide a clear criminal record with vulnerable sector screening
  • The candidates should note that completing an Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care course and valid CPR and First Aid Certification
  • The candidates should have previous working experience with elderly individuals in long-term care or a senior living environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to encourage, motivate, and assist patients with hygiene and daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, oral care, skin care, meals, and mobilizing, according to the patient’s care plan
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with the patient and other members of the interdisciplinary team in the development of individualized patient Care Plan
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the planning and implementation of patient leisure activities on a daily basis
  • The candidates should be able to assist with light housekeeping duties
  • The candidates should be able to perform delegated nursing acts according to company policy and scope of practice
  • The candidates should be able to communicate and report relevant information regarding patient care or safety to the Supervisor
