Forager Foundation based in Yale, BC is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Curatorial assistant. Forager Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable food systems and environmental conservation. Through educational programs, community outreach, and advocacy efforts, the foundation strives to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity, regenerative agriculture, and responsible foraging practices. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Salary: $23.00 hourly for 35 hours per week
Employment Type: Term or contract (ending: 2025-04-30) Full time
Location: Yale, BC
Transportation information: Valid driver’s licence, own vehicle, and public transportation is not available
Work setting: Rural area, heritage/historical site, and museum

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Museology/museum studies, Anthropology, general, Fine arts and art studies, other, and History, other
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 2 to less than 3 years
Area of specialization: Arms and military objects, book, decorative arts, furniture, musical instruments, photography, and textile
Technical experience: Cataloging, conservation and restoration, curatorial assisting, exhibit preparation, interpretation/guiding, construction, and registration
Computer and technology knowledge: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD, MS Office, SketchUp, MS Excel, and InDesil

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to operate audio-visual equipment and prepare reports
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the research, handling, and storage of artifacts, and assist in the restoration and conservation of artifacts under the direction of a conservator
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the planning and development of traveling exhibitions and special events, classify and assign registration numbers to artifacts, and supervise inventory control
  • The candidates should be able to conduct guided tours of museums, gallery exhibitions, and historical, heritage, and other sites, answer inquiries, and provide information
  • The candidates should be able to construct displays and dioramas, build models, install artifacts in displays, and prepare artifacts for storage and shipping
