Philipsen Farm Ltd is a well-known dairy farm in Lacombe, AB. In 1998, Arie and Dineke Philipsen moved to Canada. The company has welcomed their two children into their farming operation near Lacombe, Alberta, they are undertaking some expansion. There are 340 cows that are milked three times a day in a double-12 parallel parlour and housed in free stalls. The company’s most recent addition is an on-farm feed mill to add efficiencies, cost control and quality control to their farm’s feed supply. As of now, Philipsen Farm Ltd is inviting applications for the role of a Dairy Herdsperson from any of the eligible candidates who reside in Canada with an attractive salary.

Salary: $16.58 to $22.00 hourly, for 40 to 50 hours per week.

Transportation/Travel Information: Valid driver’s license, Drive manual transmission vehicle.

Requirements:
Languages: English
Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years or equivalent experience
Experience: 1 year to 2 years
Equipment and Machinery Experience:
Tractor, Storage and silage system, Milking system (automated), Feeding and watering system, Automated manure handling or storage system
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- The candidate should be physically demanding
- The candidate should be able to pay attention to details
- The candidate should be able to work overtime
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should be a team player
- The candidate should be organized while working
- The candidate should be able to supervise 1-2 people
- The candidate should be having a valid driving license
- The candidate should be able to perform general farm duties
- The candidate should be able to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment
- The candidate should be able to maintain work records and logs
Responsibilities:
- The candidate needs to maintain quality control and production records
- The candidate needs to supervise and oversee breeding and other livestock-related programs
- The candidate needs to recognize and treat certain livestock health problems
- The candidate needs to formulate a feeding program
- The candidate needs to carry out a pasture or pen breeding programs
- The candidate needs to maintain livestock performance records
- The candidate should be able to monitor animal health
