City of Calgary’s Mobility department focuses on transportation planning and infrastructure. It oversees road networks, public transit, and active transportation initiatives. Through its strategic planning and infrastructure projects, it addresses transportation needs, reduces congestion, and promotes alternative modes of travel, contributing to Calgary’s livability and economic vitality. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Shift: 6:00am -10:00 pm and may consist of Split Shifts

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have previous experience in data collection, field studies

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be aware that work is primarily conducted in the field on city streets, and it may involve extended periods of walking, sitting, or stair climbing
  • The candidates should be prepared for interaction with members of the public, as it may be required
  • The candidates should drive during periods of heavy traffic, to pull over onto city boulevards, and to drive over curbs to perform the duties of the job
  • The candidates should understand that passing a pre-employment drug test is a requirement for this position

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent), and the use of a personal vehicle for business purposes
  • The candidates should have previous experience in data collection and field studies and able to maintain focus amidst distractions and a busy environment
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to maintain focus on repetitive tasks, collaborate with team members, and follow complex and detailed instructions, which is required for success in the role
  • The candidates should exhibit the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing field conditions with demonstrated accuracy and a high attention to detail, which is also required for success in this role

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to be involved in the collection of data and field studies
  • The candidates should be able to perform a variety of transportation studies, surveys, and parking inventories
  • The candidates should be able to perform the primary role of collecting turning movement data at intersections of different modes of travel
  • The candidates should be able to be compensated for personal vehicle use in accordance with corporate policies and procedures
