Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Languages.
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications such as high school, bachelor’s degree, a certificate or a diploma although having a High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having Business Centre experience is preferred and having Commercial driving and delivery experience is preferred.
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should be safe, responsible, predictable, courteous and defensive driving with an awareness of traffic laws and safe driving practices is required and have the map-reading ability
- The candidate having familiarity with the delivery area preferred.
- The candidate should have a Costco Food Safety Certification – Level 1, have a valid class D license with air brake (Z) endorsement and have a valid class 3 license with air brake (F) endorsement
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to drive commercial truck with air brakes and hydraulic lift to deliver merchandise to members’ places of business and also unload orders from truck, collects payments, issues return credits and completes paperwork
- The candidate should be able to collect driver route sheets, truck assignment, driver manifest, member invoices, audit notes, resale cards, mobile phone and map book and also conduct safety inspection of delivery trucks
- The candidate should be able to visually inspect pallets in trucks to ensure the correct number loaded, and that any cooler or frozen items are included and also use pallet straps when necessary.
- The candidate should be able to drive a delivery truck and also review invoices to locate merchandise to be delivered
- The candidate should be able to cut shrink wrap from pallets and remove merchandise from trucks with manual pallet jack or by loading onto hand truck/dolly and lowering on hydraulic lift and obey all traffic laws (as set forth by municipal, provincial and federal governments).
- The candidate should be able to verify and confirm with members all items and item quantities delivered and also check with members for approval of any substitutions made
- The candidate should be able to obtain appropriate signatures and payments from members and also provides prompt and courteous member service
- The candidate should be able to call the Business Centre to arrange delivery for any missing items and also load damaged or refused items onto trucks for return to the Business Centre
- The candidate should be able to issue return receipts and also drive delivery trucks back to the warehouse after all deliveries are made
- The candidate should be able to arrange for any returned items to be checked by a manager and also turn in paperwork, payments, mobile phone and map book daily.
- The candidate should be able to assist in loading and unloading delivery trucks at the Business Centre when necessary and also assist in other areas of the Fleet department as needed.
- The candidate should be able to assist in other areas of the Business Centre as necessary
