Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 24 months verifiable professional driving experience as a commercial vehicle driver within the last 3 year
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts, which include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays. Shift lengths range from 4 to 7.5 hours, with potential overtime
- The candidates should be available to work Monday to Sunday with start times ranging between 07:30 and 17:45 and end times between 15:30 and 24:00. Rest days may include combinations like Sunday or Monday or others
- The candidates should be willing to work overnights as required during shift coverage and required to various locations including Victoria, Duncan, Port Alberni, Ladysmith, Qualicum Beach, Courtney, Comox, and Campbell River. Additional coverage to Vancouver or Lower Mainland and BC interior
- The candidates should be aware that training for this role will take place in Vancouver for 2-3 weeks and long haul or cross-border driving and adhere to a strong culture of mutual respect and integrity
- The candidates should have the physical capability to load, unload, push, and carry heavy clinic equipment and supplies. This includes stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting up to 50 lbs, and pulling or pushing up to 136 kg (300 lbs) on a wheeled platform
- The candidates should demonstrate a willingness to learn procedures in a regulatory environment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid unrestricted Class 4 BC driver’s license and a clean commercial driver’s abstract from within the last 30 days
- The candidates should have basic computer skills and the ability to learn new systems and programs
- The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively in English; a second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to ensure that blood and blood products are transported in accordance with safety measures and procedures, maintaining appropriate temperatures
- The candidates should be able to ensure the safety of employees, donors, and volunteers during transportation
- The candidates should be able to conduct pre-trip inspections to verify equipment is in proper working order and complete all required documentation accurately
- The candidates should be able to greet and assist donors in booking or rebooking appointments as needed, utilizing strong customer service skills
- The candidates should be able to set up systems and Wi-Fi connections for mobile events, leveraging technology proficiency and willingness to learn new programs
- The candidates should be able to work collaboratively with staff to carry, set up, dismantle equipment and supplies, and load or unload equipment at donor centre sites and upon return to the centre, demonstrating superior interpersonal and communication skill
