Requirements:
Languages:Â Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: Emergency child care first aid and CPR, Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, and First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Immunization records, Vulnerable sector check
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be physically capable of handling demanding tasks and should be prepared for repetitive tasks as part of their duties
- The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail in their work and should be comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking
- The candidates should be capable of bending, crouching, and kneeling as needed
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should prioritize punctuality in their attendance and demonstrate dependability in fulfilling their responsibilities

Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers
- The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children
- The candidates should be able to engage in storytelling
- The candidates should be able to supervise staff, trainees, or volunteers
- The candidates should be able to lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest
- The candidates should be able to encourage children to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity
- The candidates should be able to guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits
- The candidates should be able to maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
- The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors
- The candidates should be knowledgeable about the Day Nurseries Act and licensing regulations
- The candidates should be able to establish guidelines for behavior and assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children
- The candidates should attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children and establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
- The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours
- The candidates should be able to supervise and coordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
