Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as college/CEGEP
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Credentials: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate, First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be a repetitive tasker
  • The candidates should be able to work with attention to detail
  • The candidates should be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods

Other Requirements:

  • The candidate should be punctual, flexible, and reliable
  • The candidates should be able to work as a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Canadian citizen and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children, lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
  • The candidates should be able to provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity, guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
  • The candidates should be able to observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor, knowledge of Day Nurseries Act
  • The candidates should be able to knowledge of licensing regulations, establish guidelines for behaviour
  • The candidates should be able to assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
  • The candidates should be able to plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
