Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Graduate of post-secondary studies in resource management or biological sciences, emphasis in fisheries or wildlife management
Experience: Candidates should have experience in implementing fish stock assessments field programs

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing and able to work extended hours as required
  • The candidates should be willing and able to work in rural field locations, on lakes, and on rivers as required, which may include inclement weather
  • The candidates should be physically able to perform the duties of the position, including the ability to lift and maneuver a minimum of 30 kg

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s Licence
  • The candidates should possess and maintain a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Licence and should demonstrate the ability to identify fish species found in Manitoba waterbodies
  • The candidates should have experience working with Microsoft Office or equivalent software applications is required for the candidates and experience in the safe operation of 4×4 trucks while towing trailers
  • The candidates should have strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to record, compile, and manage large data sets
  • The candidates should have experience operating boats, including knowledge of safe boating practices and should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team
  • The candidates should be able to work independently with minimal supervision

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist regional staff throughout the province in conducting annual index gillnetting programs and stock assessment programs on Lake Winnipeg and Manitoba
  • The candidates should be able to support various stock monitoring programs within the region and provide assistance to other areas in Manitoba
