Sandy Shore Farms Limited based in Port Burwell, ON is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of General labourer – farm. Sandy Shore Farms Limited is a 60 years old family owned farming business company. We are Canada’s largest grower and shipper of fresh asparagus, handling product from approximately 1/3 of Ontario’s total. Along with asparagus we also proudly grow fresh cherries and bell peppers. We are known to provide satisfaction to our customers, that they don’t have to go to any one else after getting the best services from us. The candidates who will get selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Shifts: Day, Evening, Weekend, Flexible Hours, To be determined, Early Morning and Morning
Work setting: Rural area, remote location, various locations and processing plant
Work site environment: Candidates should work in fruit and vegetable combination farming, other miscellaneous crop farming, other vegetables and melon farming (except potato), outdoors, wet or damp, odours, dusty, hot and cold or refrigerated place
Weight handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications such as a high school, bachelor’s degree, a certificate or a diploma
Experience: Candidates need experience of 1 to less than 7 months
Type of Crops: Asparagus, Bell peppers, Cabbage, Cauliflowers, Cucumbers, Onions, Soybeans, Sweet corn and Zucchinis

Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have experience of equipment and machinery like farm truck, fertilizer applicator, sprayer or duster, tractor and vegetable harvester
- The candidate should have experience of automated systems like Automated irrigation system and Feeding and watering system
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to hand harvesting vegetables
- The candidate should be able to harvesting seedlings
- The candidate should be able to hoeing crops
- The candidate should be able to plant, cultivate and irrigate crops
- The candidate should be able to operate and maintain farm machinery
- The candidate should be able to vegetable culling
- The candidate should be able to weeding
- The candidate should be able to fertilize and spray crops
- The candidate should be able to harvest crops
- The candidate should be able to examine produce for quality and prepare for market
- The candidate should be able to remove filled containers from conveyors
- The candidate should be able to manually pack goods into bags and boxes or other containers
- The candidate should be able to feed and unload processing machines
- The candidate should be able to clean and lubricate machinery and equipment
- The candidate should be able to clean and maintain equipment
- The candidate should be able to apply chemicals
- The candidate should be able to transport raw materials, finished products and packaging materials
