Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to safely operate a variety of tools and equipment related to general maintenance
  • The candidates should have the ability to work in a team environment, accept and follow verbal and written instructions, and complete duties as assigned to an acceptable standard with minimal supervision

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should follow all City of Brantford Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and and abilities to perform the duties listed above
  • The candidates should have a valid “G” Ontario Driver’s License in good standing during the course of employment
  • The candidates should have CSA-approved steel-toed boots, as they are required for this position and aware that interviews will commence in January 2024
  • The candidates should have a valid First Aid Certificate with level “C” CPR, which is mandatory for this seasonal position and must be submitted with the application
  • The candidates should submit a current Police Information Check (dated within the past 3 months) from their local police service for approval by the Corporation prior to commencing employment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform a variety of duties across Parks Maintenance and Facilities, Sports Fields and Turf, Horticulture and Forestry, Cemetery Services, and Golf
  • The candidates should be able to carry out general maintenance tasks, including facility and parks maintenance, cleaning, painting, litter collection, playground maintenance, and construction
  • The candidates should be able to maintain sports fields and turf, including grass cutting, trimming, fertilization, and restoration
  • The candidates should be able to undertake cemetery maintenance, trail upkeep, horticulture care, and tree maintenance tasks
  • The candidates should be able to engage in physically demanding tasks, including heavy lifting and bending and complete all required training for the role
  • The candidates should be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and work days, afternoons, nights, and weekends
