Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of 4 year university degree in geomatics, computer science, data science, geoscience or other related field
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 5 years of experience working with geospatial data collection, interpretation and analysis, including demonstrated experience as a technical leader and subject matter expert

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be proficient in geospatial/Big Data concepts, theories, principles, and methodologies, including visualization
  • The candidates should be familiar with data governance and data management practices
  • The candidates should be well-versed in data analytic models and frameworks
  • The candidates should have expertise in geospatial (GIS/Big Data) applications, spatial analysis, and related geospatial technologies and tools, including programming skills
  • The candidates should possess a strong understanding of statistics
  • The candidates should be proficient in Business Intelligence tools such as Insights and Power BI
  • The candidates should have a solid knowledge of modelling tools, including 3D
  • The candidates should be experienced in project management techniques
  • The candidates should have proficiency in tools and methods for reviewing data in relational database management systems, including querying, graphing, and editing
  • The candidates should be adept in tools and techniques used in predictive modelling
  • The candidates should be familiar with applicable regulations and legislation, including the Planning Act, Environmental Assessment Act, AODA, and MFIPPA
  • The candidates should have a general understanding of corporate and departmental policies and procedures related to web publishing in multiple formats, including accessibility
  • The candidates should be knowledgeable about web content management solutions
  • The candidates should be skilled in techniques used in contracting, particularly those related to the preparation of Requests for Proposal and the evaluation of resultant submissions
  • The candidates must be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation, possess knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the workplace, and understand appropriate actions to ensure the health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and City policies and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with management, staff, elected officials, and other external stakeholders
  • The candidates should demonstrate problem-solving skills, research, and analytical skills, as well as time management skills
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively as a leader or team member in a multi-disciplinary technical environment

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan and lead highly complex geospatial projects involving multiple stakeholders, serving as a corporate geospatial/GIS data expert
  • The candidates should be able to promote and partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities to apply advanced geospatial analytics and share geospatial data
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the Digital Twins and Reality Capture project, leveraging their experience in geospatial data practices
  • The candidates should be able to manage point cloud data, assess data quality, and extract topographies, models, analyses, and other forms for use in digital twin applications
