Shifts: Day, On Call, Morning
Transportation information: Valid driver’s licence
Work setting: Group home
Target audience: Females, Persons with an intellectual disability, Persons with mental health disabilities, and Persons with physical disabilities
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 7 months
Area of specialization: Community service organization
Computer and technology knowledge: MS Office
Credentials: Developmental services worker (DSW) Training, Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate
Security and safety: Criminal record check and driving record check (abstract)
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and work effectively under pressure, as well as being capable of handling weights up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills and exercise good judgment, adhering to values and ethics
- The candidates should prioritize client focus and exhibit excellent written communication, as well as showing initiative
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to prepare reports or case histories, appraise clients’ needs or eligibility for specific services, and perform administrative tasks
- The candidates should be able to implement life skills workshops, liaise with the inmates’ families and contacts in the community, and assess clients’ relevant skill strengths and development needs
- The candidates should be able to resolve conflict situations, supervise activities of clients living in group homes and halfway houses, and implement behavior management programs
- The candidates should be able to liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients, assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs, and assist clients/guests with special needs, including accompanying them to appointments and social outings
