Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a degree in Management, Health Administration and Commerce or Business
Experience: Candidates should have four year of work experience in the relevant field

  • The candidates should possess knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of Government of the Northwest Territories financial directives and procedures related to both expenditures and collection of revenues
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to read and understand complex directives, standards, and legislation, and provide sound advice to staff based on this understanding
  • The candidates should exhibit excellent communication, customer service, and public relations skills
  • The candidates should possess strong prioritizing, time management, and organization skills and strong interpersonal and team-building skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to review pertinent information and make rational decisions or recommendations based on available information
  • The candidates should hold a diploma in a related field and have six years of relevant work experience, including two years of supervisory experience and financial accounting experience in a health care setting
  • The candidates should have equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for this position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure the registration of territorial health care coverage for the residents of the Northwest Territories
  • The candidates should be able to oversee the appropriate registration and administration of the Supplementary Health Benefits Programs
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the timely and accurate registration and payment of Medicare and Territorial Health Insurance Claims
  • The candidates should be able to operate in accordance with Federal and Territorial Acts, Regulations, and policies, including the Eligibility and Portability Agreement, to ensure residents are appropriately registered and receive entitled services
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the development and maintenance of policies and procedures related to health care services
  • The candidates should be able to manage unit financial resources to meet operational requirements
  • The candidates should be able to manage unit human resources to meet operational requirements
  • The candidates should be able to provide leadership in the provision of health care services within the Northwest Territories
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize health care service delivery
  • The candidates should be able to ensure compliance with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements related to health care services in the Northwest Territories
