Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing to travel overnight less than 15% of the time and be physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. from the waist and shoulder, prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, crawling underneath equipment, climbing on top of equipment, reaching, and stretching
  • The candidates should be able to perform repetitive hand, wrist, and arm movements, including skilled work with fingers and be comfortable working at heights and climbing onto equipment occasionally
  • The candidates should be able to work outdoors in extreme hot and cold temperatures and in environments with dirt, grease, fumes, oils, and chemicals and tolerate prolonged exposure to loud noises from engines, compressors, power tools, and equipment
  • The candidates should be able to work across multiple sites, including various Home Depot stores and be at least 18 years old
  • The candidates should be legally permitted to work in Canada, pass a background check and reside within 25 km of the target city or be willing to commute to the base location
  • The candidates should be available for regularly scheduled shifts, including weekends, and be flexible to work outside of regular shifts

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a current trade certification in heavy-duty equipment (provincial or interprovincial) and working knowledge of handheld technology, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, and applications
  • The candidates should provide their own standard tools used in the trade, craft and the ability to diagnose and complete advanced mechanical repairs, including engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • The candidates should be able to read and understand technical repair and parts manuals for equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components
  • The candidates should have knowledge of and experience driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers, and towable construction equipment in high-traffic or congested city zones and small areas
  • The candidates should have a working understanding of safe load securement, tie-downs, and transport and knowledge and understanding of Ministry of Transportation guidelines and safety regulations
  • The candidates should be able to adapt to unforeseen circumstances, including weather and traffic conditions and respond to customer inquiries or complaints and take necessary steps to exceed customer expectations
  • The candidates should have experience in the equipment rental industry, auto/truck mechanics, oil and gas mechanics, or light industrial equipment and demonstrate mechanical and technical aptitude
  • The candidates should be able to work effectively with different personality types and all levels of associates and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to maintain a fleet of rental equipment at store and company shop locations, as well as customer job sites, ensuring fleet inventory accuracy and GPS system functionality with three points of security on all towable equipment
  • The candidates should be able to complete major repairs for LE fleet in assigned store locations, diagnosing faults or malfunctions and maintaining, inspecting, and repairing all machine components, including gas and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, fuel systems, and brake systems
  • The candidates should be able to troubleshoot, diagnose, and order parts within 48 hours of a tool being placed on the Down List, while notifying the Regional Rental Manager (RRM) of any delays
  • The candidates should be able to foster a culture of customer service and support by engaging with TRC associates to provide solutions that help rental customers successfully complete their projects
  • The candidates should be able to obtain parts needed for repairs while maintaining a timely and accurate parts inventory and assist with equipment deployment, pre-delivery inspections (PDI), deliveries, and auctions
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, while partnering with store TRC associates, teammates, and customers
  • The candidates should be able to utilize equipment reporting to develop efficient service strategies with Mobile Service Technicians (MSTs) to ensure timely completion of all open RSN tickets, repairs, store/lift inspections, PMs, and Safety Campaigns/Bulletins while communicating prioritization to the RRM
  • The candidates should be able to document all work performed on equipment, including labor and parts, using the company’s technology platform
  • The candidates should be able to lay out workflow processes by prioritizing key action items to improve efficiency and communicate LE rental status updates to store TRC associates and ensure work orders are completed in D365, including documentation for all parts and repairs
