Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of Grade 10
Experience: Candidates should have Six months of experience in institutional cleaning
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work under pressure
- The candidates should be able to operate auto scrubbers, floor buffers, and carpet extractors
- The candidates should have the physical and mental ability to perform assigned routines
- The candidates should have the ability to either fully squat or kneel
- The candidates should have the ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
- The candidates should be capable of lifting and carrying 35 lbs
- The candidates should adhere to good personal hygiene practices
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be knowledgeable in disinfection procedures and the stripping and refinishing of floors
- The candidates should be skilled in the preservation of surfaces and shampooing carpets and upholstery
- The candidates should be proficient in the use of housekeeping equipment and knowledgeable in employee health and safety/WHMIS
- The candidates should demonstrate a good understanding of safe body mechanics for lifting and bending
- The candidates should have knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers
- The candidates should be dependable, reliable, and professional
- The candidates should demonstrate flexibility with changes in work assignments
- The candidates should be able to work within a team environment
- The candidates should be cooperative, respectful, and courteous with residents, visitors, and co-workers
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform housekeeping duties associated with the maintenance of a clean, comfortable, home-like, and safe environment in the Long Term Care Home
- The candidates should be able to emphasize resident safety and engagement in their duties
- The candidates should be able to perform their duties in accordance with the Long Term Care Homes Act, 2007
- The candidates should be able to understand and follow directions
- The candidates should be able to identify and report hazards in the workplace
- The candidates should be able to organize and prioritize work assignments
