Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of LSS Instructors or Swim Instructors
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should maintain their fitness level and certification in accordance with Lifesaving Society standards
- The candidates should attend all mandatory staff training sessions and be at least 15 years old to work as an Instructor or Guard in Ontario
- The candidates should have a passion for promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe workplace and the ability to work respectfully and effectively in a team environment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have certifications in National Lifeguard Service and Standard First Aid and CPR C
- The candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering quality customer service
- The candidates should show a demonstrated commitment to Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion
- The candidates should expect that aquatic skills will be screened prior to an interview and provide a current Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the city immediately upon hire
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide quality swimming lesson instruction and lifeguard services at the Waterloo Swimplex
- The candidates should be able to deliver excellent customer service and possess strong interpersonal skills, combined with a background in aquatics, Waterfit instruction, and/or the Lifesaving Society Learn to Swim program
- The candidates should be able to act in compliance with Ontario Health Regulations, relevant legislation, and operational guidelines
- The candidates should be able to assist in the operation of the waterslide, wading pools, and splash pads
- The candidates should be able to contribute to accident prevention and public education efforts and maintain a safe and clean pool area for all users
