Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have one year experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the physical ability to carry out the duties of the position and ability to operate related equipment
  • The candidates should have the ability to organize their workload and function effectively under pressure
  • The candidates should be available to work a variety of shifts which include days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and statutory holidays
  • The candidates should be able to return to the site within 30 minutes during on-call shifts
  • The candidates should have the physical ability to perform the duties of the position

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to deal with others effectively
  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to receive, assess, and produce whole blood, apheresis platelets, and plasma into requested blood components
  • The candidates should be able to assist the laboratory manager in the development and evaluation of procedures related to blood component production
  • The candidates should be able to maintain appropriate documentation and records related to inventory in compliance with Canadian Blood Services operational procedures and work instructions, utilizing excellent organizational skills
  • The candidates should be able to perform routine maintenance of equipment and work areas to ensure the safety and quality of blood products, demonstrating proactive behavior and commitment to excellence
