Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed an accredited practical nurse education program
Experience: Candidates should have at least 1 year of acute care experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to manage multiple demands and conflicting priorities effectively
- The candidates should be able to work well both independently and within a team setting and demonstrate critical thinking skills within their scope of practice, including clinical judgment, problem-solving, and strong decision-making abilities
- The candidates should be capable of working in a physically demanding environment that involves constant walking, bending, and lifting of 50 lbs
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be actively registered or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
- The candidates should have current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification
- The candidates should have successfully completed CLPNA modules for Standards of Practice on Restricted Activities and Advanced Practice, along with certifications in required competencies
- The candidates should possess basic keyboarding and computer skills, excellent communication skills and experience working within the CoACT framework and Connect Care experience
- The candidates should have experience caring for medical, post-operative surgical, orthopedic, and subacute patients
- The candidates should possess ACLS certification and hold IV Therapy and PICC certification
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to function as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) within an interprofessional health care team, applying nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- The candidates should be able to follow guidance from their education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures
- The candidates should be able to contribute to providing safe, high-quality, patient- and family-centered care, reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS
- The candidates should be able to demonstrate adaptability and resilience in a dynamic healthcare environment
- The candidates should be able to maintain accurate patient records, ensuring clarity and compliance with health information standards
