Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of Valid Ontario Locksmith Trade Certificate or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial hardware installation including the apprenticeship training program, which consists of on-the-job/ work experience of 6,000 hours and 480 hours of in-school training
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to read and interpret drawings and manuals related to their job function
- The candidates should have the ability to effectively work individually and as part of a team of diverse groups
- The candidates should be capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with coworkers
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to follow through and carry out assignments
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have knowledge of Locksmithing and associated maintenance upkeep
- The candidates should have training and work experience with conventional, biaxial, and key by code keying systems, as well as experience working with and updating a keying system database
- The candidates should have experience in the operation and maintenance of all trade-related power tools and equipment and should possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- The candidates should possess knowledge of fire protection for the work being performed, as well as associated building and fire codes
- The candidates should be familiar with the hazards involved with work and safety measures to be taken
- The candidates should have a good working knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Access, Excel, and Maximo, including data entry for key management software
- The candidates should demonstrate a creative approach to problem-solving
- The candidates should be familiar with security issues as they relate to preventing and repairing property damage, including the supply and installation of theft prevention hardware
- The candidates should have knowledge of FMP policies and procedures and should be familiar with low voltage wiring, cabling, and best practices regarding integration
- The candidates should have knowledge of basic electronics, relays, and sequencers and should have the ability to read and write English proficiently
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to repair and maintain locks efficiently, ensuring that all access points remain secure and operational under the supervision of the Assistant Manager, Access Control
- The candidates should be able to make keys accurately, following established procedures and guidelines to provide access as needed while maintaining security protocols under the supervision of the Assistant Manager, Access Control
- The candidates should be able to perform general lock services, such as installing, adjusting, and replacing locks as required to meet security and access control needs under the supervision of the Assistant Manager, Access Control
