Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of a valid Ontario Locksmith Trade Certificate
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial hardware installation
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team with diverse groups
- The candidates should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the ability to follow through and carry out assignments
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have knowledge of locksmithing and associated maintenance upkeep and possess knowledge of fire protection relevant to the work being performed, as well as associated building and fire codes
- The candidates should be aware of hazards involved with the work and safety measures to be taken and a good working knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Access, Excel, and Maximo, including data entry for key management software
- The candidates should have training and work experience with conventional, biaxial, and key-by-code keying systems, and experience working with and updating a keying system database
- The candidates should have experience in the operation and maintenance of all trade-related power tools and equipment and interpret drawings and manuals related to the job function
- The candidates should possess effective communication skills, both orally and in writing and demonstrate a creative approach to problem-solving
- The candidates should be familiar with security issues related to preventing and repairing property damage, including the supply and installation of theft prevention hardware
- The candidates should have knowledge of FMP policies and procedures and be familiar with low-voltage wiring, cabling, and best practices regarding integration
- The candidates should have knowledge of basic electronics, relays, read and write in English and including the apprenticeship training program, which consists of on-the-job or work experience of 6,000 hours and 480 hours of in-school training
