Salary: $28.50 hourly for 40 to 60 hours per week

Shifts: Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, Overtime, On Call, Early Morning, Morning
Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbook, inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, trans-border documentation, and trip reports

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Communication systems experience:
Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment, and trip recorder (on-board computer)
Transportation/travel experience: International, long-haul, national, and provincial/territorial
Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone, hard hat, steel-toed safety boots, tools, safety vest, and gloves
Credentials: AZ class license, air brakes endorsement, Class 1/1F/A licence (semi-trailer trucks), and driver’s license (Class 1 or A)
Security and safety: Bondable

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate attention to detail in their work and be capable of handling heavy loads as needed
  • The candidates should be prepared for a large workload and willing to work overtime when required
  • The candidates should be prepared for physically demanding tasks and comfortable with repetitive tasks
  • The candidates should be able to perform tasks while sitting

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, address customers’ complaints or concerns with professionalism in customer service, and drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
  • The candidates should be able to load and unload goods, operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, and oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
  • The candidates should be able to perform brake adjustments, pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, receive and relay information to central dispatch, and record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption
  • The candidates should be able to ensure the safety and security of cargo by tarping and overseeing all aspects of the vehicle
