Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have the physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb.)
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a valid Class 1/A driver’s licence with the appropriate provincial air brake endorsements
- The candidates should have a safe driving record for at least 3 years (recent driver’s abstract or a commercial driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days may be required)
- The candidates should be available to work locally on short notice
- The candidates should have experience in shunting
- The candidates should have experience in customer service
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to hitch, check, and unhitch trailers, as well as shuttle them to and from postal loading platforms and parking areas
- The candidates should be able to collect, sort, and deliver mail efficiently
- The candidates should be able to load and unload postal vehicles, ensuring the safety and security of mail and Canada Post property at all times
- The candidates should be able to operate portable communication devices effectively
- The candidates should be able to accurately record and acknowledge the receipt and delivery of trailers
- The candidates should be able to perform thorough vehicle and trailer safety checks to ensure their proper condition
