Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have grade 12 education or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have minimum 3 years of post-apprenticeship experience performing maintenance on industrial equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work mainly indoors (in a warehouse) and occasionally outdoors
  • The candidates should be able to work outdoors, being exposed to hot/cold temperatures intermittently
  • The candidates should be able to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace mechanical components such as motors, reducers, drive chains, sprockets, sheaves, pulleys, rollers, conveyor belts, bearings, and transfer plates
  • The candidates should be able to troubleshoot, adjust, and replace AC and DC electrical equipment such as batteries, control stations, fuses, motor starters, relays, switches, and timers

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid 5760 Industrial Construction and Maintenance Mechanic or 5781 Automated Systems Electromechanic Certification of Qualification, which is highly preferred. However, extensive relevant experience may be considered
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to receive and give instructions over radio in an industrial environment
  • The candidates should exhibit excellent interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should have experience in performing maintenance on conveyor belts is required
  • The candidates should have knowledge of plumbing and building schematics is necessary
  • The candidates should have basic computer skills, including familiarity with keyboards, are essential

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to support the package sorting system, including belt conveyors, at our state-of-the-art Montreal Automated Hub as a Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright)
  • The candidates should be able to perform a broad range of maintenance activities to keep UPS package handling facilities operating efficiently and effectively
  • The candidates should be able to interact routinely with other operations employees in a sometimes fast-paced work environment
  • The candidates should be able to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace pneumatic equipment such as puck sorters, flow splitters, diverters, air compressors, lubricators, hoses, and coils
  • The candidates should be able to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace hydraulic equipment such as hoses, fittings, cylinders, and pumps
  • The candidates should be able to weld equipment such as handrails, conveyor supports, package handling equipment, carts, and grating
  • The candidates should be able to perform preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment such as conveyors, bulk carts, and power industrial equipment
