Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the Inuktut, English or French Language
Education:Â Candidates should have a recognized undergraduate degree in Business, Education, Public Administration, Political Science, or Communications
Experience: Candidates should have five (5) years of related management experience, and three years of supervisory experience
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess acceptable combinations of education and experience, with equivalent years of education and/or experience equal to the education and experience required.
- The candidates should demonstrate fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages, which would be considered an asset.
- The candidates should have knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment.
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to oversee the effective implementation of the Education Act and Regulations as well as the Child Day Care Act and Regulations in relation to the legislative functions of twenty-six (26) District Education Authorities (DEA)
- The candidates should be able to oversee a budget of $1.3 million and have six (6) direct reports: Partnership Relations Coordinator, Assistant Partnership Relations Coordinator, and four (4) DEA Development Officers
- The candidates should be able to establish a working relationship with partners within and external to Nunavut, including other GN departments, territorial and provincial governments, Inuit organizations, academic institutions, and businesses
- The candidates should be able to ensure positive and mutually beneficial relations between the department and its partners contribute significantly to the advancement of the department’s and GN’s priorities and the learning experiences that Nunavut learners at all ages can expect to receive
- The candidates should be able to inform the department’s strategic partnership priorities based on the department’s new and evolving demands, responsibilities, and needs
- The candidates should be able to provide strategic leadership, advice, management/support, and oversight of all partner relations activities across the department
- The candidates should be able to function as the department’s key contact on matters relating to partner relations and ensure that the division is prepared to act as the first point of contact for groups seeking to engage with the department
- The candidates should be able to lead the department’s efforts to engage with education partners more proactively and productively to further the mandate of the department
