Salary: $17.40 hourly for 48 hours per week
Employment Type: Term or contract Full time
Location: Richmond, BC
Shifts: Day, Weekend, Early Morning, Morning
Type of crops: Coniferous trees, deciduous trees, bonsai plants, Christmas trees, cut flowers, and ornamental trees, shrubs and hedges
Requirements:
Languages:Â Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 2 years to less than 3 years
Equipment and machinery experience: Chain saw, Christmas tree cutting machine or equipment, forklift, garden tractors, irrigation pumps and equipment, mechanical cultivator, mechanical seeder, and mechanical sprayer
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to handle repetitive tasks, handle heavy loads, and perform physically demanding work
- The candidates should be able to stand for extended periods, and bend, crouch, and kneel
- The candidates should be able to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs) and be able to lift more than 45 kg (100 lbs)
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to tend to budding trees, clean the crops, and cut horticultural crops
- The candidates should be able to perform greenhouse cleaning, harvest seedlings, and mix fertilizer
- The candidates should be able to perform seed cutting, handle weeding, and assist in pruning trees, shrubs, and plants
- The candidates should be able to mix and prepare soils, plant bulbs and seeds, and pot and re-pot plants
- The candidates should be able to transplant seedlings or rooted cuttings, apply fertilizers, and report signs of insect or disease damage
- The candidates should be able to assist in grafting activities, dig up and wrap root balls of trees and shrubs, and water and tend to plants, lawns, and/or gardens
- The candidates should be able to clean the work area, and clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens, and other work areas
