Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completion of College Diploma
Experience: Candidates should have minimum of 3 years’ experience as a RN
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be a self-starter who can anticipate needs and work independently with minimal supervision and ability to plan and schedule programs and activities
- The candidates should have effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities and comfortable with public speaking in large groups
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and BScN designation
- The candidates should hold a designation in Occupational Health Nursing or demonstrate willingness to acquire it
- The candidates should possess a valid Standard or Advanced First Aid or CPR certificate; Instructor Certification
- The candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience as an Occupational Health Nurse, preferably in a heavy industry environment
- The candidates should demonstrate a high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills
- The candidates should be certified in various testing procedures, equipment, and methods (audiometric, drug and alcohol, vision-screening, respirator fit testing, immunizations and IV competency
- The candidates should be very familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants, and Ontario Human Rights legislation
- The candidates should have good communication skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization
- The candidates should have competent computer skills and adapt well to constant change and Bilingualism (French and English)
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to efficiently and professionally evaluate and treat all injuries and illnesses within the scope of practice for both employees and contractors
- The candidates should be able to manage WSIB claims, modified work plans, worker rehabilitation, and related correspondence for both Occupational and Non-Occupational events
- The candidates should be able to manage short-term and long-term disability benefits and follow up with employees and supervisors in return-to-work plans
- The candidates should be able to assist departments with implementing and evaluating return-to-work options for workers requiring modifications and complete and accurate employee medical records and ensure confidentiality
- The candidates should be able to organize and administer worker health education and counseling services, including EAP (Employee Assistance Program) and worker Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation programs
- The candidates should be able to complete and coordinate various workplace testing programs, including Respirator Fit testing, Drug and Alcohol testing, Spirometry, and Audiometric testing
- The candidates should be able to liaise with outside health organizations, compile statistical reports and maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment
- The candidates should be able to support the Employee Wellness Program and champion employee health and wellness initiatives at the site and adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures
